Decide which WhatsApp workflow you need

For a small gathering, you can share one website link yourself and record any informal replies manually. For a larger list, you may want addressed invitations, response tracking, and reminders from the same roster. Ask whether the tool actually sends messages or just provides a share button.

Do not tell guests to type YES unless your chosen service explicitly supports that response. In Duva, the invitation should say “Open this link to RSVP.” A friendly message back to the sender is not a submitted RSVP.

How a Duva guest responds

Duva sends invitations with an RSVP link by SMS to +1 numbers and WhatsApp to supported numbers outside +1. The guest opens a browser page, answers for the invited members of their party and their events, and submits the form. Typing YES in the message thread does not record a Duva RSVP.

Illustrative example: Priya sends Aunt Meera an invitation for the sangeet and reception. Meera opens the link in WhatsApp, sees the invited party members and event choices, accepts the reception, and declines the sangeet. After submitting, Priya checks those two event responses in the dashboard. This is a fictional walkthrough, not a customer result.

What other messaging documentation establishes

• Joy. Messaging Plus sends texts to US and Canadian numbers; its help page directs other destinations to email.
• Zola. Premium Guest Messaging is a paid feature and its SMS country-support FAQ specifies US numbers.
• The Knot. Its custom-message help says existing templates remain but custom email and text messages are no longer available.
• RSVPify. The SMS help article describes delivery through Zapier. Confirm current native delivery options directly before deciding; that integration article alone is not proof that every other SMS workflow is unavailable.

Questions to ask before importing your guest list

Confirm supported countries, whether guests need WhatsApp installed, what happens when a number cannot receive a message, and how you will reach that person another way. Check the sender guests will see and make the couple’s names clear in the invitation.

Test a sample household with multiple events, then check which people still need a response. Read the reminder and opt-out settings. Keep event locations and dress codes on the site so an updated detail has one place to live.

What guests need, and what it costs

Receiving a WhatsApp invitation requires WhatsApp. Opening and submitting Duva’s RSVP page also requires a browser and an internet connection. Guests do not need a Duva account. If a relative cannot use the page, contact them directly and have an authorized host record the answer.
